Our Story

She walked on water.

Jocassee — “place of the lost one” — is a Cherokee word and a Cherokee story. The legend tells of a young woman from the Oconee tribe who fell in love with a warrior from the rival Eastatoe. When grief took him, she did not weep on the bank. She stepped onto the surface of the river and walked across it, into the mist, and was never seen again.

We named this community after her because she did not wait to be invited onto the water. She went.

Why we're here

Jocassee is a women's fishing lifestyle community. We tell the stories of the women who fish — pros, guides, ambassadors, and anglers who picked up a rod last week. We test gear that fits, that works, and that was made with us in mind. We host events. We hold the door open.

Underneath all of that we've kept the fishing intelligence the way we built it: species guides, technique guides, knots, rig builder, regulations, and forecasts for every state. The data is for everyone. The community is the point.
